A STUDY ON DEPRESSION LEVEL OF THE PUERPERA

Abstract
|
|
|
The purpose of this study is to explore the depression level of the puerpera.
Samples of this study were 116 puerpera who visited to the public Health center and/admitted to the obstetric and Gynecologic ward between July 11 to September 15, 1983.
The following are the statistical findings in this study.
1. Tool
S.D.S. (Self-rating Depression Scale) and E.P.S. (Eysenck Personality Scale) were used as a study tool.
2. Hypothesis
1) There was significant difference between SDS score according to the husband-wife relationship (P< 0.05). The good husband-wife relationship group reported the lower SDS score than the ordinary husband-wife relationship group.
(1) There was significant difference between SDS score according to the stable-unstable (P <.0.01). The unstable group reported higher level of SDS score than the stable group.
(2) There was no significant difference between SDS score according to the Intro-extroverted (P >0.0s).
3) There was no significant difference between SDS score according to the babies¢¥ sex expectation (P >0.05).
4) There was significant difference between SDS score according to the puerperal duration. (P< 0.01). The late postpartum puerpera reported higher levels of SDS score than the early postpartum puerpera.
5) There was significant difference between SDS score according to the delivery type (P< 0.05). The C-section group reported higher levels of SDS score than the vaginal delivery group.
6) There was significant difference between SDS score according to the parity (P < 0.05). The Multipara reported higher levels of SDS score than the primipara.
7) There was significant difference between SDS score according to the abortion history (P <0.05). The abortion history group reported higher levels of SDS score than the none abortion history group.
